We look for potential – not a background in finance. And there are two reasons for that. One, our outstanding training will give you all the skills you need. And two, different backgrounds make us stronger. It’s because of people bringing fresh perspectives that we’ve grown so quickly, and so successfully. For us, potential is made up of:

For our analyst programmes you must be in your final year or have graduated in the last 12 months. For our summer internships, you must be in your second year (or third year if you’re on a four-year course). Choose your programme We offer many roles you may not be aware of. So do your research and work out which roles interest you most. Narrowing it down can be tough, so you can apply for more than one. Here’s how to start choosing.

Discover which teams you’d be perfect for with our handy sorting tool

Choose the online application and your CV Our application form will help us get to know you better. It asks for your contact details and educational background, as well as more open questions about your work experience and why you want to work for us. Carefully considered answers to these open questions will help you stand out, because it shows you’ve done your research and thought about your application. We’ll also ask you to attach your CV, so make sure it’s up to date and tailored to the role you’re applying for.

Complete the online assessments Impress us with your online application and we’ll email you some online assessments to complete. These timed assessments will test your verbal and numerical skills, so be sure to complete some practice tests first to help you become familiar with the format. And, when you’re ready to start the tests we’ve sent, make sure you’re in a quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed.

Assessment Day This is where we meet you in person – and where you meet people from across MUFG. You’ll take part in group exercises, a business interview and networking sessions. Here’s how to do your best.

Prepare – as with the telephone interview, research our business and make sure you’re up to date with what’s currently happening in the financial markets. Take part in mock interviews and practise your answers so you’re clear on key points you’d like to get across
First impressions count, so make sure you know where your assessment day will be and arrive at least 15 minutes early
Get involved in different activities and contribute to each task
Be yourself – all the exercises are designed to identify your strengths

When do applications open and close?

Analyst Programme: opens 26 August 2024 and closes 10 November 2024
Summer Internship: opens 26 August 2024 and closes 05 January 2025
Tech Analysts Programme: opens 02 September 2024 and closes 23 February 2025 (rolling)
Work Experience Programme: applications for the 2025 programme will open in March 2025.

What degree disciplines do you look for?

We believe diversity is critical to our success, so we consider candidates of all degree disciplines. For our analyst programmes you must be in your final year or have graduated in the last 12 months. For our summer internships, you must be in your second year (or third year if you’re on a four-year course).

Do you offer a rotational programme?

Yes, depending on which business area you’re hired into. In some business areas you may be able to rotate across different groups to get broad exposure to the work. Other business areas want their hires to develop deeper, specialist expertise so recruit directly into a specific desk. You can find out more in Our Programmes.

Do you offer internships to anyone other than penultimate-year students?

Although our summer internship programme is only open to students in their penultimate year, we do run various Insight Days for students in their second and final year of study. Find out more about us by visiting the Come and meet us section of the home page.
